EXERCISE * SELF-DEFENSE * AMATURE * PROFESSIONAL
The Rock offers training in all practical aspects of fighting - as a combat sport and as self-defense. Our combat sport program incorporates a complimentary blend of stand up, progression, take downs, and grappling techniques. Our goal is to help you become a well-rounded fighter. In reality, there may be times when you have to take the sport out of it and truly defend yourself having to use it as self-defense.
BOXING and KICKBOXING
Our stand up includes, but is not limited to, boxing and kickboxing which includes American, Asian, and Muay Thai styles. We teach you how to take the punch as well as give it. Learning how to truly fight is the best workout you can get. Knowing how to take a punch is half the game. Boxing and Kickboxing is both an aerobic and an anaerobic workout. Jogging, for example, is a paced workout. Boxing is not paced. You may be taking or giving a punch at any time when the opportunity arises. Foot work, stance, head movement, hand position, fighting distance, being offensive or defensive (counter punching), baiting your opponent, and reading your opponent's movements (telegraphing) is all a split second decision making process but continuously thought about throughout a three minute round.
TEMT KENPO
TEMT (Technichally Evolved Martial arts Training) Kenpo incorporates many forms of martial arts into one practical style of martial art, being a true mixed martial art. Our style provides an excellent form of street applicable self-defense utilizing hands, elbows, hips, feet, knees, the head, and most importantly - the brain, as weapons. Simplicity (do what is necessary to accomplish the task with the most efficient means possible) and directness (the shortest route to the target without any preparatory or telegraphic set-up movements) are key components to this style. No two fights are alike and no two fights can be recreated exactly so we teach you to recognize, adapt, and overcome by using whatever it takes to stop the threat.
UFC ( ULTIMATE FIGHTER CLUB )
Jujitsu ground fighting plays a large role in combat sports as well as self-defense. In both situations the fight may end up on the ground either intentionally or unintentionally (by tripping or falling). We teach our students to become technicians on the mat by using skill, physics, their wits, and fighting spirit, not just brawn. Jujitsu means "gental art", meaning that a practitioner will use their opponent's strength against themselves and will use the practioner's stronger muscles against their opponent's weaker muscles. Our school offers all the tools to be a competitive mixed martial artist as well.
PHYSICS BASED
All of our classes are taught based on physics and the use of keniseology. Keniseology is the study of the various disciplines that encompass the movement of the human body, primarily focusing on human physiology, biomechanics, philosophy, anatomy, and even the sociology of sports and exercise. By studying biomechanics, the student can use principles of engineering to gain a better understanding of human physiology and the limits of the system. We use our experience to help our athletes maximize the use of their bodies, prevent severe injuries, and contribute to their overall health.
